Engaging All Learners Through Writing

Module Description

This module focuses on engagement in terms of the level of students’ cognitive and participation engagement. Writing helps us to foster greater cognitive or thinking engagement and student participation. Ultimately, if students cannot do, that is, think, reflect, act, solve, it means they have not learnt. Our goal is to support you to use writing to increase engagement through participation and cognition in your classroom so that students can better demonstrate their mastery.

  • Teachers will be able to plan questions to facilitate higher-order thinking
  • Teachers will be able to set clear expectations while engaging students through writing
  • Teachers will bel able to provide opportunities for students to refine their thinking through more rigorous writing prompts
